Sweet SearchSweet Search is a search engine that has filters built in to it to allow students to access only researcher validated web sites to ensure that the content they are finding is of high quality. The site also offers an easier search engine for younger students. This is helpful for students who struggle with research skills, and can’t delineate valid information from invalid information. Very good for research projects. |
CramberryCramberry is a free online flash card maker that allows students to create sets of flash cards or browse thousands of pre-made cards. As the student progresses through the cards, the site tracks their responses and will develop a study plan for them. The interface is incredibly easy to use, and a "pro" account is only $9 for a year. It's also available for the iPhone. Cramberry is good for use with students who struggle with vocabulary terms, students who need a study aide to learn information, and students who struggle with spelling. This is a very handy resource! |
FactMonsterFactMonster is a great site presented by Information Please that allows students to find information on a vast amount of topics. In addition to these facts, the site also provides a thesaurus, dictionary, almanac, and encyclopedia. Due to the vast amount of resources available from this site, I would say it is good for all students who need assistance with content area information acquisition. The games that they offer are also engaging and educational. My students highly recommend this site! |
Quiz StarQuiz Star is a FREE online quiz creator! This tool allows you to create, administer, and score quizzes online for free. Some features of interest include being able to upload various media types into the quizzes, and allowing students to flag a question so that they can go back and look at it before they finish. This tool is a great resource to help students with fine-motor disabilities who are unable to take a traditional paper and pencil quiz. By offering the ability to add multimedia to the quiz questions, Quiz Star is making this tool accessible to students with visual disabilities as well. To accommodate these students, you would just attach a recording of the question to each item. |
